Visual Effects Guru promises epic CGI Clash between Batman vs. Superman

Batman vs. Superman. The title itself has set comic book fans and followers of the caped crusader and son of Krypton, salivating. The Dawn of Justice is set to hit screens in March, 2016, but VFX guru working on the movie, namely Joe Letteri, did give them something to nibble on. Apparently, there is to be a huge fight scene in the movie that will leave the CGI guru’s previous masterpiece, Man of Steel in the dust.

When asked about the apparently ‘self contained’ battle scene, Letteri shared that he is not able to reveal much, but he can say that it would be a ‘stand alone’ sequence of events. Those who have been avidly following any news they can get on the movie may be tempted to think that it could point to the fan made animated teaser trailer shown during the Comic Con held in San Diego in 2014.

In the trailer, viewers can clearly see Batman and the man of steel squaring off on top of a building, with the bat signal illuminating a hovering (and apparently, raring for a fight) Superman. However, Letteri has since confirmed that the battle scene is quite different from this teaser, making fans rejoice.

That’s not all. As Wonder Woman is set to make her big screen debut in the movie as well, fans are anticipating that there will also be a team up between the future Justice League members against a common enemy. The DC trinity collaboration will definitely be one of the main highlights of the movie.

Getting back to the topic at hand, Letteri confirms that the term ‘standalone’ may raise some questions as to the nature of the VFX heavy battle scene. Some fans have speculated that it may have nothing to do with the overall plot of Dawn of Justice. It may reveal how Kal-El has adopted his role as a protector of the people (perhaps a bit too seriously) but, at this point, this is mere speculation.

It has also been confirmed that Gal Gadot will play Wonder Woman and Aquaman’s trident will be wielded by Jason Momoa. Perhaps the scene in question may depict one of them turning into their superhero forms. Whatever the case may be, it is clear that come 2016, fans will be on tenterhooks and raring to get tickets to see the DC trinity in action and the official clash between Batman and Superman.
